American Tyranny

Just for discussion, let us accept 100% of the claims by liberals and Democrats of the damage President George W. Bush inflicted on our liberties. How difficult have they been to undo? Supposedly illegal wiretaps – stopped within 100 days by the new administration. Claims of torture – stopped within 100 days. Detainees at Gitmo – soon to be released. And so on.

Now, consider what it will take to undo President Barack Obama’s damage to our liberties. He and his liberal Democrats have taken over control of banks; with the unions they will own the U.S. auto industry; they have burdened generations of Americans with debt. Even if conservatives and Republicans took total control of Congress in the next election and won the presidency in 2012, they could not undo the damage in 100 days – 100 years perhaps.

And the liberals and Democrats have just started, there is still much on their agenda and none of it will be easy to undo.

Living under tyranny as liberals and Democrats claimed about President Bush ended after eight years. Overcoming the oppression being inflicted by those same liberals and Democrats will take generations.

Higher Taxes

Who says that Democrats are for higher taxes? Obviously, top Democrats were not in favor of paying higher taxes.

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, nominated to be secretary of Health and Human Services, failed to pay $146,000 in back taxes. (Update: He has withdrawn his name.)

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner failed to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes while an employee at the International Monetary Fund.

Nancy Killefer, picked by President Obama to serve as the country’s chief performance officer, failed to pay unemployment taxes on household help (she has withdrawn from consideration for the post).

And don't forget Al Franken’s admission last April that his corporation had owed $70,000 in back taxes and penalties in 17 states on income earned from celebrity appearances and speeches. Franken’s corporation also failed to pay $25,000 in worker’s compensation insurance to his employees in New York.

Welcome to Bi-Partisan 2009

Roland Burris who has been appointed as the Senator from Illinois was quoted by the AP as saying: “We are hoping and praying that they will not be able to deny what the Lord has ordained.”

Wonder what would be the media’s response if a Republican or conservative said she or he was ordained by the Lord to be a senator?

For eight years the Democrats have been irate over the “stolen” presidential election of 2000.

Wonder what they would be saying if a Republican were selected for senator from Minnesota the way Al Franken has bee selected?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a conversation with Governor Rod Blagojevich about filling Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat.

Given what has transpired, what if the Republican Senate Majority Leader had a conversation with a Republican governor about filling a vacancy?

Then there is Charlie Rangel.

One can only imagine the screams from Democrats and the media if he were a Republican.
