If as President Obama and the liberal Democrats claim, America has lost the moral high ground, there is one easy domestic step they can take: outlaw the death penalty.
In 2008, in the United States, 37 people were executed.
Yes, if someone attacked, raped, killed one of my loved ones I would want to kill that person. But, my or any other individual’s personal and emotional response should not be the guiding factor in setting society’s moral standards.
Once a person has been captured, tried, convicted and imprisoned, leave them there for life without parole. America’s moral high ground should not include legalized killing.
With a few strokes of his pen the President could commute all death sentences (approximately 3,300) to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Once that is done, President Obama and the liberal Democrats could reclaim more moral high ground regarding the million innocent unborn executed in the United States each year.
